Cat Behaviour: Cats and Computers

by Paws on Your Heart on July 2, 2013

cats and computersCats have always been interested in sitting in front of the home computer. No, cat’s aren’t surfing the internet or playing games (well maybe some of them are…), but they’re cuddling up right in front of our computer screen, or right on top of our keyboards. Heck, you might even have a cat on your computer as you read this blog post!

So why do cats love to sit with us while we’re on the computer?

To keep us company: Some cats just want to spend time with their owner. If a person spends a lot of time on their computer, then their kitty will likely spend a lot of time on their owner’s lap (or their laptop computer).

For warmth: Computers emit a lot of heat. This is especially true for laptops. If your cat loves to cuddle up beside or on top of your laptop, maybe he’s trying to stay warm.

Visual interest: Computer screens have lots of things moving around for cats to watch. Perhaps your kitty loves to watch your mouse pointer move around, watch the text scroll across the screen, or even watch cat videos! With so many things happening on our computer screens, it’s no wonder why cats love to sit in front of them.

Does your cat love to sit at your computer? Tell us your stories in the comments section below. You can even send us a picture of your cat sitting on his or her favourite computer to service@pawsonyourheart.com, and we’ll post it here and/or on our Facebook page!
