Cat Behaviour: Does Your Cat Wink At You?

by Paws on Your Heart on September 3, 2013

one_eyed_wonder by lisasolonynkoDid you know that a cat winking… heck, even a cat blinking is a sign that a cat is content and happy with you?

It’s true. In fact, cats rarely blink around strangers that they are meeting for the first time. They often just give that stranger an unblinking stare. This is because cats are wary of people that they do not know, and they do not trust them.

Cats actually use blinking as a signal and form of communication with other cats to tell them that they don’t have aggressive or threatening intentions.

So if you have ever winked or blinked at your feline friend, and you have received a cat wink, a blink, or the ultimate slow blink (aka a kitty kiss) in return, consider yourself lucky because your cat trusts and loves you.
