Help With Your Cat: Cat is Shredding Toilet Paper

by Paws on Your Heart on April 28, 2013

Cat is shredding toilet paperCats are notorious for unrolling and shredding toilet paper. Our feline friends love the excitement of unraveling the roll of non-stop fun, and they really love shredding it like confetti. Some cats even like pulling tissues out of the box! This behaviour can be cute sometimes, but it can also be a hassle to clean up… If your cat is shredding toilet paper, we’ve got tips to help you stop it.

  • Hide the rolls under the sink or in a toilet paper holder. If the roll isn’t visible to Kitty, she won’t want to shred them.
  • Turn the tissue boxes upside-down so your cat can’t snatch the tissues out.
  • Spray a citrus scent or bitter apple scent in the toilet paper tube. The scent will discourage Kitty from going near or touching the toilet paper roll.
  • If possible, leave the bathroom door closed to keep your cat out.
  • Give your cat more attention and more toys to play with. These extra playtimes will keep your cat entertained and away from the toilet paper rolls.

These are just a few of our ideas to keep your toilet paper safe from cat claws.
