Paws On Your Heart is a non-profit sanctuary for feral and stray cats with special needs, part of the larger Hillview Acres Animal & Nature Preserve. The sanctuary’s brand new facilities are located on a spacious property owned by our family in beautiful rural Saskatchewan, and for decades we have been providing food, shelter and love to homeless cats. We love every one of our residents, and are committed to promoting cat welfare around the world. 100% of the donations we receive at Paws On Your Heart will go directly to the cats.

Famous Friday: Mrs Norris

Last week’s Famous Friday was about Crookshanks, a cat from the Harry Potter series. This week’s famous cat is also from the series, though she is far less beloved.

Mrs Norris is a thin, ill-tempered cat who patrols the hallways of Hogwarts looking for students who are breaking the rules. She is the companion of the grumpy school caretaker Argus Filch. Though Mrs Norris possesses no magical abilities nor the ability to speak, she has a close connection with Filch and alerts him whenever she finds trouble. Seeing her large, lamp-like eyes at the end of the hallway is a bad sign for students who are up to no good, as it means they’re about to get caught. Read More…

Famous Friday: Crookshanks

Crookshanks is the beloved pet cat of witch Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series. He’s described as a large ginger cat with a squashed face, yellow eyes, bandy legs, and a ‘bottlebrush tail’.

Most do not regard Crookshanks as a handsome cat, though Hermione instantly falls in love with him and purchases him from a magical pet store. He turns out to be a great match for a clever witch like Hermione, as he’s highly intelligent and is great at solving puzzles that humans cannot see the answer to.
